Amal, this is such a powerful piece. Reading it, I am remembering my own watching of Hadestown -- in the theater, I fully embraced the utter tragedy and desperate hope of it all, cried a-plenty as the lights came up. I also am remembering my own experience visiting Palestine, talking to people who live there. I will never forget the quiet breaking voice or the eyes of an older woman we visited, just talking to us about her life in her apartment. I of course have nothing like your experience, but I wanted to say your words touched me deeply.

I am an optimist, but I can't ignore a tragedy when it looms. I have started Hades, and I am wondering just how it will feel to finish it. These days, I vacillate between fierce determination and deep despair. I wish, despite all that, for better days ahead for us both. <3

Hi Amal,

Sending hugs.

Got you got to play Hades, that it resonated with you, and for me personally, that you got to experience a different kind of storytelling.

And you're right, there's a lot of conflict from miscommunication (and some passive-aggressiveness in Hades) and I was reading a book about negotiation and even in that book, communication (or lack thereof) is a recurring theme.

(Also I hope you continue playing Hades because I'm not sure if you reached all the endings? And each ending has a different lesson to impart/learn?)
