A little on the nose, but That Summer Feeling by Jonathan Richman will always take me back to muggy nights of hanging out with friends during my university years. https://youtu.be/TpJvXo6RNu8

This is two tunes from Galician folk music - the first is a processional that is played as pilgrims walk through the night around a particular church in Spain for a holy day; the other is music played in the morning of a festival day to wake the town's people. I love the way the solemn night music breaks into the dawn of the festival morning... https://youtu.be/pSuP95RhuFc

Of the two songs that immediately occurred to me, the second follows this well: "Ultreia", a song from the Camino de Santiago. https://youtu.be/Rtny1-EawRQ

The first, which is a complete mismatch but more obvious, is ELO's "Mr. Blue Sky". https://youtu.be/aQUlA8Hcv4s

Have you ever listened to Oliver Schroer's CAMINO? He travelled the road for 3 months with his violin & as much recording equipment as he could carry in a sleeping bag (in 2004) & recorded himself playing music in several of the churches they stopped in along the way. It's utterly beautiful. He passed away four years later & I'm so grateful this album exists. https://borealisrecords.com/product/camino/?v=e4b09f3f8402

I hadn't (which is embarrassing, since I think you recommended it to us in Ottawa a couple of years ago), but I have now started listening, and it is lovely. Thank you for the reminder!

All the bright, poppy hits from the '80s: "Let's Hear It for the Boy" by Denise Williams, "Sussudio" by Phil Collins, "How Will I Know" by Whitney Houston, "Higher Love" by Steve Winwood.

Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden! I actually grew up listening to mostly classical music, then got a hold of the radio and listened to a LOT of alt rock. Still can hear the chords in my head :)
